This week on Styled Moments FB page, I posted my outfits that I wore to school.  Here I am reposting the outfits and I added links to the items I am wearing or items that would be similar.

I love finding outfits and the recreating them in my closet.  I also love the fact that I will not pay a crazy amount of money for an item, so you will find reasonably priced clothes, shoes and accessories here at Styled Moments.   Spread the word, and remember to check out my styling sessions if you are interested in a little one-on-one styling assistance.  :)

My first Styled family!

I was recently looking for a family that would be taking pictures soon, in hopes that they would let Styled Moments help them select outfits for their session.  I wanted to try my services out on them so that I could get feedback on Styled Moments.  I was blessed to be contacted by Dawn Mathers.  Thank you, Lindsey Murphy Photography, for the hook-up!

Dawn knew what she wanted her sweet little boy to wear but wanted assistance with the rest of her family.  I started with her two beautiful girls, got them outfitted, and then coordinated looks for Dawn and her husband.  We had a fun time as we met out on a shopping spree to finalize all the looks, including shoes and jewelry.  Dawn had a great idea in bringing a friend that knew what style she usually goes for and what makes her comfortable.  Great thinking!!  The Mathers photos are just fabulous!!

Here is what Dawn had to say about Styled Moments:

*I love how you asked for a family photo.....felt like you really tried matching personalities!

*I like how you asked about comfort level.....like I don't wear anything too low, etc.

*Again this is such an amazing service....one that people like me definitely need out there!!!! You certainly have a gift!

Thank you so much Dawn for allowing me to work with your family.  It was a blast and your family is precious!!

Summer Lovin'!

Color is what all are raving about this summer! The brighter the better!  Here are a couple of looks that you could put togother for running errands, meeting a friend for lunch, or dress it up with cute wedges and fun jewelry for a fun night out.

Shame on you if you look in your shorts drawer and see no color.  Haha!!  Colored shorts are everywhere.  Here are a few that you can find at your local mall.
The summer heat is brutal.  Everyone needs a sassy dress to make it better.  Aren't these dresses adorable?!
Ahhh, the ever-so-comfortable maxi dress.  They are a must in my summer wardrobe!  I've been thinking of trying the new jumpers that are out.  What do you think?  Will you be trying one?

Let's talk pictures!

Ahh, isn't the weather beautiful?! It's the perfect time to break out those bright, fun colors for family pictures.  For many, it may be a stressful event.....choosing the perfect coordinated outfits for your family. I would love to make that a less stressful event for people.  Here are a few tips and ideas to help you put your look together.

1. Coordinate your family's style.  Steer clear of having everyone in the same colored shirts or dressed too matchy-matchy.  You want to add variety as you coordinate your look.  "Casually put together" is the look you should go for.

2.  Make sure you feel good in what you are wearing.  Try everything on before the day of the pictures (as well as, before the night before).  You want to have time to make changes if something doesn't feel good or look right.  If you are uncomfortable, it will show in your pictures.

3. Enjoy the fun colors that are "in" right now and that are just perfect for Springtime.  You don't want everyone in the photo to go bold, but placing in pops of color make for a great picture.  Below are some ideas for the kiddos from JCrew.com.  These are great looks to build on and carry through your pictures.

4. Accessorizing with fun jewelry or adding a prop can be a great way to add personality to your pictures.  Some photographers have their own props to bring into the pictures, so don't be afraid to ask.  A cute pose or memorable sign can add a personal touch as well.

A few more quick DOs and DON'Ts for your photo session:

DON'T get a haircut the day before your pictures.  A fresh haircut sometimes needs a few days to settle.

DO stick with only 2 coordinated outfits for your family at most.  It is fun to do an outfit change resulting in 2 different looks for your pictures.  You don't want to waste your session time by having too many outfit changes.

DON'T forget to pack a few snacks (non-messy, non-cheesy, non-greasy....you get the point) in case you or someone in your family needs a pick me up or a little bribery.  (Hey...I totally understand.  I have a 3 year old who is precious as can be and full of beautiful smiles, until there is a camera in front of her! Haha!)

DO let your photographer know your color scheme/coordinated look idea.  They can often suggest ideas of what might look best in the location they are photographing.

DO have fun!  Relax and enjoy each other.  Your photographer is snapping away even when you are not paying attention.  Some of the best shots and sweet memories are captured that way.

Remember to check out the sessions I offer if you need some assistance with preparing for your picture day. I would love to help you create that perfect Styled Moment!

Chasing a Dream!

So, I am really doing it! I love everything about style and fashion. Put me in a clothing store, shoe store, or accessory store and I am as happy as a kid in a candy shop. I love trying new fashionable trends and revamping some of my current wardrobe for different looks. A photographer that I use made a side comment about being a stylist for photo sessions. She loves the looks that I put together for my family photo shoots. I thought about it for awhile, talked to a few other photographers and found there could actually be a need for someone like me! Wait a second......you mean I could work with families to create a fun and well coordinated "styled moment" all while earning a little extra $$ for my family?! Ummm, yes please! So this is my new dream I am chasing. I would love to help you and your family create a look that is perfect for your family's pictures.

Here is a sample of what I put together for my family recently:

I have a few photographers that I can recommend as well, if you are in search of someone. Please see my Styled Moment Sessions for a complete description of what I can do for you!
